The Nature’s Passage - Code of Professional Conduct addresses the relationship and obligations of our company with the public, the government, the environment, the deceased’s family and our obligation for the care of the decedent.
SERVICE TO FAMILY
Nature’s Passage has an ethical obligation to serve each family in a professional and caring manner; we pledge to be respectful of their wishes and confidences.
Provide sea burial services to families without regard to religion, race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, or disability.
To protect the family, we shall comply with all laws and regulations pertaining to the prearrangement, prepayment, financing for funeral merchandise or sea burial services.
We shall price our services very competitively while being considerate of those of limited means.
We shall carry out all aspects of the burial and or memorial service at sea in the most competent and respectful manner possible.
We shall properly account for all monies, documents, personal property that belongs to others that comes into our possession.
We pledge to not to engage in any unprofessional conduct of character to deceive, defraud, or cause harm the families we serve in the course of conducting our business.
CARE OF THE DECEDENT
We have an ethical obligation to care for the deceased person’s – body or cremated remains, with the highest respect and dignity and to transport, shelter and inter at sea the remains in a caring and conscientious manner.
We shall not violate any statute, ordinance or regulation affecting the handling or care of human remains.
Without exception, we shall dispose of the decedent in the manner specified by the decedent’s family or those holding power of attorney.
OBLIGATION TO THE PUBLIC
We have an ethical principle to the public to offer services and to operate business in accordance with the highest principles of honesty, fair dealing and professionalism.
OBLIGATION TO THE GOVERNMENT
We have an ethical obligation to maintain strict compliance with the letter of the law and spirit of all governmental laws and regulations that impact the consumer of our services, the conduct of our operations, Maritime law, Federal Aviation Administration regulations, the public’s health and welfare, or our nation’s security.
OBLIGATION TO THE ENVIRONMENT
We must comply with all federal, state and local laws, rules, or regulations enacted to protect the environment.
We will earnestly attempt to minimize every facet of our business from impacting the environment in an adverse way.
